Project Overview

This Noise Exposure Map update will include updating all Airport noise contours, noise exposure maps, and submission to the Federal Aviation Administration. The Boca Raton Airport Authority (BRAA) last conducted an NEM update in 2017. As the general aviation fleet mix changes and traffic levels fluctuate it is important to periodically update the NEM in order to accurately and effectively respond to noise concerns from the surrounding community particularly with the ongoing FAA South Florida Metroplex Airspace Redesign.

Size/Scope

Ricondo is leading the 14 CFR Part 150 study, which includes analyzing existing (2025) and future (2030) noise contours using the FAA’s Aviation Environmental Design Tool (AEDT).

Materials/Systems

Aviation Environmental Design Tool (AEDT): Ricondo uses the latest FAA-required version (currently AEDT 3g) to model aircraft performance and noise. This tool replaces legacy systems and calculates noise, fuel consumption, and emissions in a single platform.

Project Timeline

Data Collection & Analysis | Q1–Q3 2025

Ongoing collection of aircraft operations data and radar tracks to develop existing (2025) and future (5-year forecast) noise contours.

Initial Technical Meetings | June 17–18, 2025

The first Noise Technical Advisory Committee (NTAC) meeting and a Board Workshop were held to review the study process and preliminary data.

Third NTAC Meeting | October 21, 2025

A final technical review session where the Noise Exposure Map Update report was presented to committee members.

Public Outreach | October 22, 2025

The airport hosted a Public Open House to collect community feedback on the draft noise contours and findings.
