Successful Toys for Tots Tenant Contest Collects Toys for Children in Need
On Friday, December 13th, 2 uniformed servicemen from the U.S. Marine Corps visited the Boca Raton Airport with 2 trucks to fill full of toys that were donated during the 2019 Toys for Tots drive.
While this was the Airport’s third year serving as a Toys for Tots drop off site, it was the first year that the Boca Raton Airport Authority (BRAA) hosted a contest with the Airport’s tenants to see who could collect the most toys. Of the nine tenants who participated, Boca Aircraft Maintenance collected the most toys, which included six full boxes and four bikes.
The Airport also acted as a consolidation site for neighboring businesses to bring the toys that they collected. These toys were combined and delivered to a Marine Toys for Tots Foundation central warehouse where they will be sorted and then distributed to children in need.
In total, the Airport’s coordination with the community produced the following:
- 9 Airport tenants plus the BRAA participated
- 30 boxes of toys collected
- 30-50 toys per box
- 6 bicycles
- 19 community partners dropped off their boxes
A total of over 80 boxes of toys were collected between the BRAA, tenants and community partners filling 2 full trucks.
The BRAA thanks everyone who donated a toy this year and has the utmost appreciation for all of the Airport’s tenants who volunteered to act as a drop off site, including Atlantic Aviation, Boca Aircraft Maintenance, Boomers! Boca Raton, Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott, Privaira Private Aviation, Reliable Jet Maintenance, Cinemark, Sammy J’s Kitchen + Cocktails and Signature Flight Support.
