Last night, airport staff Ariadna Camilo and Clara Bennett attended the WLRN Public Radio and Television premier of “Boca Raton: The Secret Weapon That Won World War II,” a fascinating documentary on Boca Raton airmen tasked with learning the ins and outs of an emerging technology called airborne radar. 

To quote the Sun Sentinel:

Back when it was just a small town, around the time of World War II, Boca Raton was the site of a military top secret.

Thousands of airmen at the Boca Raton Army Air Field were tasked with learning the ins and outs of an emerging technology called airborne radar. That classified assignment is now the focus of a one-hour documentary, “Boca Raton: The Secret Weapon That Won World War II,” debuting at 8 p.m. Nov. 6 on South Florida public broadcaster WLRN.

The article goes on to outline the history and missions held at the Boca Raton Army Air Field (now Boca Raton Airport,) heralding the entire movie as an honor relaying “…a story about human ingenuity and how this country and especially a small town came together to defeat evil on an international scale.”

The film will air at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. Nov. 6, 11 p.m. Nov. 8 and 7 p.m. Nov. 19, on WLRN-Ch. 17 in Fort Lauderdale-Miami and West Palm Beach TV markets.
